Алкалоид: снижает сахар, улучшает чувствительность к инсулину.

Мифы
«Заменит метформин»: эффект схож, но данных меньше.
«Безопасен со статинами»: взаимодействие.
Осторожно
Берберин: алкалоид из растений.
Для гликемического контроля: мета-анализы показывают эффективность, сравнимую с метформином в некоторых РКИ.
Для липидов: умеренное снижение.
Для ожирения и печени (NAFLD): есть данные.
Доза: 500 мг 2-3 раза в день.
Побочки: желудочно-кишечные.
Осторожно: CYP3A4 ингибитор: взаимодействует с лекарствами.
